Welcome!

Whether you’ve just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life – we hope the website helps you find out what you want to know about St. Michael’s. Here’s some key information…

When & where does the church meet?

The church meets every Sunday at 11am for our main Sunday Service. (On a few occasions during the year, we meet at an earlier time. The church calendar page of the website will always have the correct service time for each week.)

It helps to arrive 10 minutes early so you can chat to friends and also hear any notices that need to be said and read those on the rolling notices screen.

A welcomer will meet you inside the church door. If you wish, please let them show you to a seat.

ReFresh: This informal service meets every Sunday at 4:30pm. This is a service with not litergy, with modern worship songs, our main children’s church activities and is followed by afternoon tea. Click here for a link to the ReFresh page.

There is also a Holy Communion service on Wednesday mornings at 9:30am.

The address of the church is:
St. Michael’s Church
Rectory Drive
Alphington
Devon
EX2 8XJ

Find a map on our Contact Us page. There is on-street parking in the neighbourhood.

What to expect when I visit the church

You can expect a warm welcome, great worship, solid Bible preaching and a friendly bunch of people gathering to learn more about God. Tea, coffee and biscuits also help!

What happens to the children at church?

We have a fantastic programme for the children at church for ages 1–11. The main children’s work takes place at the ReFresh service on Sunday afternoons 4:30pm. Here the children worship together with the adults to start with, then they go to their own groups upstairs. Before the end of the service, we come together and the children have the opportunity to share what they have been doing with the rest of teh congregation.

On the 2nd & 4th Sundays there are special groups for 11-14 yr olds, where they can participate in activities at a greater depth.

In the mornings, there is a creche area upstairs where parents can take their littlest ones to play, whilst listening to the service below.

Sunday 1st: 1st Sunday of the month. A service suitable for God’s children of every age.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please be yourself, we even have Father Christmas (wearing his red and white suit) sitting in our gatherings during the festive period!

What’s church like?

We will be welcoming, and you will not be forced to do anything you are not comfortable with. We want you to feel right at home and enjoy the service. Do join us for refreshments after the service so that we can get to know you and so that you can get to know us of course!

I have more questions, how can I get in touch and ask them.

Please feel free to call (01392 437662) or email the church office (enquiries@alphingtonstmichaels.org) with any questions you have and we will be happy to help you.

Alternatively you can contact us using our contact form.

If you want to know who the staff and leaders are then check out our people page.
